Launch of new German distribution label Periscope Pictures

- Christoph Ott and Alexander Thies (photo), heads of NFP marketing & distribution, are starting a joint venture with the New York-based production and distribution companies Submarine Entertainment and Dakota Group. The new distribution outfit Periscope Pictures will release films theatrically, on DVD, VOD, Digital, SVOD as well as on TV. The plan is to release five films per year.
“We have developed a great cooperation over the years,” commented partners Dan Braun & Josh Braun, from Submarine Entertainment, and Stanley Buchthal, from Dakota Group, in a joint statement. The line-up of Submarine includes films such as Chasing Ice and Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present that have been released by NFP marketing & distribution in Germany.
Describing the relationship with their colleagues in New York Christoph Ott & Alexander Thies said “We are friends who share the same taste. We believe in great films, great stories and great directors.“ The upcoming films of NFP marketing & distribution include Indian comedy Lunchbox [+see also:

Submarine Entertainment produces and distributes feature films and documentaries such as Visitors [+see also:

film profile] in all different kinds of distribution channels. Among the productions which were financed by the Dakota Group are Hairspray, Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present, Lou Reed’s Berlin, and Robert Mapplethorpe.
