, returns to Cannes this year with an enticing line-up which corresponds well to its name and sweeps through Central and Eastern European countries just as much as it does through genres.

Its latest acquisition, the Polish political thriller The Closed Circuit [+see also:

by Ryszard Bugajski, arrives fully armed with its resounding success in its own country and its plot, as exciting as it is revolting, as it follows the honour and success of three businessmen trampled upon by hideously corrupt local authorities.

by Gustav Deutsch draws inspiration from 13 paintings by Edward Hopper to trace the path of an emancipated American and committed actress from the 1930's to the 1960's.

The Hungarian title Cycle by Zoltan Sostai, presented as a science-fiction movie halfway between Kafka and Kubrick and already praised in several festivals, focuses on an astronaut who, when he wakes up, does not know where he is or whether he is dreaming.

Finally, the poetic documentary Never Die Young by Luxembourg director Pol Cruchten (Petits secrets), which will be completed this summer, matches sublime images with the irresistible dialogue between a drug addict and his beloved heroin.
