“Danish film classics have passed from generation to generation because they have a special place in Danish hearts. We are proud to make them available – they are now just a click away,” explained Allan Hansen, managing director of Nordisk Film. “The last 80 years of Danish cinema is part of everybody’s cultural history, and delving into this treasure trove, you get a unique insight into the development of society, language, fashion, gender roles, technology and so on.”

For the official opening at Nordisk’s Valby studios, the company had invited a number of Danish film pioneers, headed up by 90-year-old composer-pianist Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, with actress-director Lisbet Dahl, actor Morten Grunwald, director Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, actor-director Erik Clausen, actor Allan Olsen, and actresses Lone Hertz, Daimi Gentle and Pusle Helmuth.

“We welcome digital development with open arms, and we are happy to dedicate a whole streaming service to Danish cinema. Danish Film Treasures occupies a niche within its field, and we promise lots of classic Danish cosiness,” asserted Christian Folden Lund, digital director at Nordisk Film.

According to Lund, subscribers to the new service will have access to a handpicked selection of Danish productions from 1931 onwards, in addition to behind-the-scenes reports from the shooting of such films as The Olsen Gang [+see also:
