Innovative 3D Technology And Multi-Platform Projects
by CMF (Canadia Media Fund)
- Montreal, April 4, 2013 – Canadian 3D technology and multi-platform projects will be in the spotlight at the 50th edition of MIPTV, the global market for television and multi-platform content to be held in Cannes from April 8 to April 11, 2013. Innovation in content, technology and various platforms is one of the driving forces behind the Canadian audiovisual industry, enabling Canada to stand out on the international stage and generate interest from a wide-ranging audience base. Some 50 Canadian businesses will present their projects at MIPTV in the hopes of building partnerships and boosting sales worldwide. In addition, many Canadians will speak at events and conferences to showcase Canadian talent.
“The Canadian audiovisual industry has a longstanding tradition of innovation. The most famous example of this is probably the development of IMAX technology by a group of Canadians,” said Carolle Brabant, executive director of Telefilm Canada. “Canadian productions continue to extend the limits of our industry by offering audiences new and innovative experiences. Recent developments in 3D technology are part of these innovations, and the fact that Flight of the Butterflies in 3D – the latest IMAX film which also happens to be a mainly Canadian co-production – will be presented at this year’s MIPTV is a reminder that this tradition is still very much alive.”
“We are proud to be presenting a variety of Canadian interactive digital media projects, including The Defector, Émilie, In Real Life, La Voix (The Voice) and Over the Rainbow in a session hosted by the Canada Media Fund at MIPTV’s 50th anniversary event. These productions are developed with a focus on viewers and their multi-tasking habits so they can discover and help define multi-platform content,” said Canada Media Fund president and CEO Valerie Creighton. “We know that Canadians want access to content anywhere at any time and these projects are just a few examples of the productions we’ve created that push the envelope in terms of content accessibility.” For more information on our industry’s innovative Canadian projects, please go to canadaonscreen.ca.
