Industry Report: Forum d'Avignon: Which Culture for Europe?
The BNP Paribas report
- Which culture and cultural “contents” do digital generations receive, create and transmit?
Within the framework of the Forum d’Avignon 2012, the Atelier BNP Paribas supervised a survey on an international scale about what we call the Y generation, also known as the “digital natives”. The survey was conducted online with 507 young people aged from 15 to 25 years old, with a sample of 100 young people from France, Germany, India, United States and South Korea.
In addition to several trends which were clearly confirmed, in relation to the access to cultural contents of generations born during the digital era, the Atelier also revealed a few surprises, in particular concerning the issue of copyrights and sources of cultural discovery, for which the word-of-mouth of relatives still stays the primary form of information.
