Video 1 | Case Study Digital Cinema: Captain Abu Raed
Director Amin Matalqa (JOR/USA), DI consultant Claudia Meglin (D/USA) and colourist Mark Read (USA) presented Capatin Abu Raed at INSIGHT OUT 2009. It is the first feature film produced in Jordan for more than 50 years and due to the difficult production environment and the lack of lab facilities in the region it was produced entirely digitally.

Video 2 | Digital Image Fine-Tuning & Restoration
In his lecture at INSIGHT OUT 2009, Alan Silvers discussed the recent advancements in image processing techniques, in noise and grain reduction an in the ability to improve apparent resolution. He displayed a series of "before-and-after" images to demonstrate some of the capabilities of today's digital image processing tools.

Video 3 | Robert Neuman: "Bolt" and Stereo 3D
Robert Neuman (USA) lectured about stereo 3D animation and the making of the stereoscopic version of Disney's Bolt at INSIGHT OUT 2009. In this interview he talks about the future of stereo 3D and Disney's policy regarding the new technology.

Video 4 | Stereo 3D Basics
At INSIGHT OUT 2009 Brian Van't Hul held a lecture on his recent project, the 3D stop motion feature Coraline. At the beginning of his lecture he gave a short introduction to the basic knowledge of stereo 3D that is summarised here.

Video 5 | Sterescopic 3D Production
An all-day workshop at INSIGHT OUT 2009 gave an overview over an entire stereo 3D workflow: Shooting was done with two Panasonic AJ-HPX3700 cameras put on a stereo rig from P+S Technik and recording on a Megacine field recorder. Ingest, offline editing and finishing was realised with OneBox / Iridas.

Video 6 | Steve Schklair: "U2 3D" and the Future of Cinema
Using the live-action 3D concert movie "U2 3D" as an example, Steve Schklair (USA) explained the differences between shooting in 2D and in 3D at INSIGHT OUT 2009. In this interview he is talking about the influence of alternative cinema content on the traditional film market.

Video 8 | VFX for Stereo 3D
Visual Effects Supervisor Brian Van't Hul (USA) presented an overview of the stereo and visual effects challenges of shooting the stop motion feature Coraline at INSIGHT OUT 2009.

Video 9 | Workshops at INSIGHT OUT 2009
Mark Read (USA) and Claudia Meglin (D/USA) presented the ARRI D21 during one of the hands-on workshops at INSIGHT OUT 2009. Five different digital workflows with state-of-the-art equipment were set up, each encompassing a digital camera, data ingest station and editing, colour-grading and finishing system. Every workflow was demonstrated and discussed in one all-day workshop.

Video 10 | Q&A: Stereo 3D Experts Panel
Stereo 3D production was one focus topic of INSIGHT OUT 2009. Josef Kluger (D), Steve Schklair (USA), Robert Neuman (USA) and Brian Van't Hul (USA) answered all the questions that were raised by the participants.

Video 11 | Workshop: High End Digital Cinema
Miguel Ferros (UK) carried out one of the all-day practical workshops at INSIGHT OUT 2009. A file-based digital cinema workflow was demonstrated with an ARRI D21 recording ArriRAW on Codex. Post-production was done with the Avid Media Composer and the Nucoda Filmmaster.

Video 12 | Case Study Digital Cinema: Popieluszko
The Polish production "Popieluszko" is a real story of success for INSIGHT OUT. In 2007 director Rafal Wieczynski and producer Julita Swierc-Wieczynska came to INSIGHT OUT to receive advice about the workflow most suitable for their film. In 2009 they returned with members of their post-production team to present "Popieluszko" as a case study to the participants.

Video 13 | Brian Van't Hul: Stop Motion and Stereo 3D
INSIGHT OUT 2009 Brian Van't Hul lectured about the stop motion animated film "Coraline" that was produced in stereo 3D. Afterwards we asked him some questions about his work and his view on the future film market.
