Frears and his eight-member jury

Presided over by British film director Stephen Frears, the competition jury of the 60th Cannes Film Festival (May 16-27) features four actresses: China’s Maggie Cheung (Best Actress at Cannes 2004 for Clean), Australia’s Toni Collette, French/Portuguese actress Maria De Medeiros and Canada’s Sarah Polley, the latter two of whom are also directors.

Flanking the female thespians in the delicate mission of choosing the Palme d’Or winner are Italian helmer Marco Bellocchio, Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako, French actor-director Michel Piccoli and Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk (2006 Nobel Prize for Literature).

) will helm the Un Certain Regard jury, which also includes Italian actress Jasmine Trinca, Romanian director Cristi Puiu and US film critic Kent Jones.

Russian director Pavel Lounguine has been chosen to head the Caméra d’Or jury, which also includes French helmer Julie Bertucelli, French actress Clotilde Courau and Swiss cinematographer Renato Berta.

Lastly, the Short Film and Cinéfondation juries will be presided over by Chinese director Zhang ke Jia, while other jury members include Iranian actress Niki Karimi, US costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis, French novelist J.M.G. Le Clezio and fellow French director Dominik Moll.
