L'ALTRO BUIO IN SALA

by Ciro Formisano

synopsis

Due to the pandemic, cinemas have suffered the closure of activities̀. In the uncertainty of a reopening, due to the missed box office receipts of almost a year, the managers have seen that darkness in the rooms transform from waiting to a cold empty space, devoid of any emotion, made up of empty chairs, lack of laughter, shining or whispering eyes. The closure of the theaters represented the drying up of the cinema and of all the worlds it manages to give life. The Documentary Film is a journey through Italy and through the historic cinemas, of Essai, which preserve a history of cinema that is parallel and unknown to the official one. The historical Managers open the chests of their memories linked to their own cinema. An act of love for cinema, and of respect for the resilience of a very important category even if they have always been far from the spotlight.
