Vittorio Taviani

Vittorio Taviani was born on the 20th of September 1929 in San Miniato, Italy. Vittorio studied law in Pisa. Vittorio and his brother Paolo's interest in film began in 1954 when they made their first joint short film about their village entitled SAN MINIATO, LUGLIO ’44. They made a name for themselves internationally with the 1977 work PADRE PADRONE. Their European coproduction LA MASSERIA DELLE ALLODOLE was presented in a special screening at the 2007 Berlinale. Their film CAESAR MUST DIE (2012) won the Golden Berlin Bear for Best Film and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlin Film Festival in 2012, as well as numerous prizes in Italy.
