Richard Eyre
Born in Barnstaple, Devon (UK) on 28.3.1943, he studied at Cambridge, directing his first stage play in Leicester in 1965. He has worked as a director of theatres, a BBC producer and film director.
From 1988-97 he was Artistic Director of the Royal National Theatre in London. His publications include books about theatre such as “Utopia and Other Places“ (1993), “Changing Stages“ (2000) and “National Service“ (2003).
His films include The Ploughman’s Lunch (1983), Laughterhouse (TV, 1984), Best TV Film Award at Venice, Iris, with 3 Oscar nominations, Stage Beauty and Notes on a Scandal, with 4 Oscar nominations.
