“A movie itself cannot change the world but people can"
by Emerging Producers
- An interview with producer Tena Gojić of Croatia's Dinaridi Film, one of the participants of Jihlava's 2018 Emerging Producers
Why do you produce documentaries? Do you believe that they have the power to change the world?
Tena Gojić: I produce films which I believe are important to be made and seen regardless if they are documentaries or fiction. A movie itself cannot change the world but people can.
What do you think is the future of distribution of documentary films?
I would like to see the future in which open culture prevails over profit.
What projects do you have under way?
Documentary Catstream about two female activists who are trying to improve life conditions of stray cats on the streets of City of the Zagreb. The film is made by filmmaker and veterinary surgeon Sunčica Ana Veldić. The second one is the poetic documentary Prenoćište (The Inn) by aspiring Croatian young talent Mate Ugrin about immigrant workers in the Rijeka shipyard.
Emerging Producers is a promotional and educational project, which brings together talented European documentary film producers. The programme is organised and curated by the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.
