Motovun celebrates European cinema and Miika Kaurismaki

The 11th edition of Croatia’s most important film event, the Motovun Film Festival, will take place from July 27-31.

Twenty-two films will compete for the main Propeller of Motovun Award; the A to A prize, for the best film from the region from Austria to Albania; and Audience, Amnesty International and FIPRESCI Awards.

This year’s partner country is Finland so Motovun will present ten Finnish features and documentaries made since 2004, including Miika Soini’s Thomas [+see also:

by Miika Kaurismaki, who will be the special guest of the festival.

Sidebar programmes include screenings of old Yugoslav WWII films, featuring Hajrudin Krvavac’s 1972 cult film Walter Defends Sarajevo; and Stories about Greed and Poverty, with films such as Miracle in Milan, The Gold Rush and Wall Street.
