Dumont’s Hadewijch heads to Toronto

Set to screen in world première at the 34th Toronto International Film Festival (September 10-19) in the Special Presentations section, Bruno Dumont’s Hadewijch is the fifth feature by the two-time Cannes Grand Prize winner (in 1999 for Humanity and in 2006 for Flanders [+see also:

). Hadewijch was produced by 3B Productions for €3.4m. This included co-production support from Arte France Cinéma and Germany’s Herbstfilms Produktion, an advance on receipts from the National Film Centre (CNC), pre-sales from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma and backing from the Ile-de-France and Nord Pas-de-Calais regions.

International sales are being managed by Pyramide.

Pyramide has another title in Toronto’s Special Presentations line-up: Catherine Corsini’s Leaving (see news). Starring UK actress Kristin Scott Thomas, Spain’s Sergi López and France’s Yvan Attal, the feature was produced for €4.14m by Pyramide and Camera One, in co-production with VMP. It will be released in French theatres on August 12.

Also set to be unveiled in world première at Toronto are Haitian director Raoul Peck’s Moloch Tropical [+see also:

, co-produced by Arte France and VelvetFilm (featuring Zinedine Soualem, Sonia Rolland, Mireille Métellus, Nicole Dogué and Jimmy Jean-Louis); and New Zealand filmmaker Niki Caro’s The Vintner's Luck, produced by France’s Acajou Films and starring Jérémie Renier and Gaspard Ulliel.

Finally, the Special Presentations section will also show Rachid Bouchareb’s French/UK co-production London River [+see also:

, which was unveiled in competition at the Berlinale and will hit French screens on September 23.
