The German Advertising Productions and Post-production Association (Verband Deutscher Post - und Werbefilmproduktionen, VDW) is to become a member of the German Alliance of Film and Television Producers (Allianz Deutscher Produzenten - Film & Fernsehen).

Hamburg-based VDW has around 30 members, including Telemaz, Acht Frankfurt, Slaughterhouse, Deli Films and Tempomedia. The organisation was founded in 1966 with the aim of protecting the interests of advertising producers and giving them a voice within the different film organisations.

Of particular importance is VDW’s work in promoting advertising films through its support funds for new talents, and the annual hosting of The Board of Ideas, a festival of advertising works with discussions and prizes, whose aim is to promote the sector and discover fresh talents.

At its latest members’ meeting, VDW decided to join the German Producers’ Alliance. Created in 2008, this organisation has headquarters in Berlin and a branch in Brussels. With around 150 members, its aim is to defend the collective interests of German producers.

The Alliance is divided into four sections: film production, television drama, TV entertainment and animation. From April 2010, a fifth section dedicated to advertising production will be added, with the aim of incorporating the VDW.

This section will be presided by previous members of its board of directors (Florian Sigl Moritz von Schrötter and Martin Wolff). It will be headed by Torsten Levermann, previous director general of the VDW.

The Alliance has continued to grow since its founding and now includes the German Association of Entertainment Producers (AGEP), the Federal Association of TV Producers, Film20, AG Spielfilm and the German Association of Animated Film Producers (VdAP).
