After Lovers, with which he won the Goya prize in 1991, and Turkish Passion Aranda has been inspired by a book with the same name by Prosper Mérimée which tells the story of a “femme fatale without shame”, as described by the director, who is forced to cope with the years after the Spanish war of Independence, one of the most difficult periods in the country’s history, with strength and determination. It’s written by the director, in collaboration with Joaquin Jordà and stars Paz Vega, who’s already appeared in Sex and Lucia by Julio Medem, and the Argentine Leonardo Sbaraglia.
