Sweet Evil in competition at Karlovy Vary

Olivier Coussemacq’s debut feature Sweet Evil has been selected in international competition for the 45th Karlovy Vary Film Festival (July 2-10, 2010).

Unveiled as a market premiere at the latest Rendez-vous with French Cinema (see review), the film stars Anaïs Demoustier (nominee for Best Female Newcomer Cesar 2009 for Grown Ups [+see also:

Sweet Evil was produced by Local Films for €1.07m. This small budget included a pre-acquisition from Ciné Cinéma, backing from the Picardy, Franche-Comté and Limousin regions, and funding from the Gan Foundation.

Zelig Films will release the title in French theatres on May 12 and UMedia is handling international sales.
