Scripted by Mancuso with collaboration from novelist DOA on the adaptation and dialogues, the film opens with the disappearance of the wife of Stéphane Monnereau (Attal), a police captain at the Paris Criminal Investigation Department.

Clues suggest he may know something about the disappearance. To avoid being placed in police custody, Stéphane flees with his son.

From then on, he is alone in his double mission to exonerate himself in the eyes of the investigators and find out what really happened to his wife.

Produced by Fabio Conversi for Babe Films and Patrice Gimenez for Epheme Productions, R.I.F. is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and StudioCanal. The latter will manage French distribution (release date: September 28, 2011) and international sales.
