MARKET Europe

EFP at the AFM

by

With 29 European production and sales companies registered from 14 countries, European Film Promotion (EFP) is experiencing an increased demand for its European Umbrella Office at the American Film Market (November 3-10) compared to the past years. In addition, EFP again makes Film Sales Support (FSS) available for the marketing of 25 European films. Both initiatives, created to boost the presence and sales of European films outside of Europe, are funded by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.

EFP’s umbrella office has raised strong interest in particular from Northern Europe (Denmark, Finland and Sweden) this time. Eight production and sales companies from Finland are taking advantage of EFP’s base to do their daily business, including Solar Films and Blind Spot Pictures. The UK is well represented with six companies attending. Further participants come from Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Hungary, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland.

Complementary to the umbrella office, EFP offers financial help – Film Sales Support (FSS) – to European sales agents and their marketing campaigns of European films at the AFM. This year, incentives are going towards 25 European films from Spain, Germany, the UK, Hungary, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Norway, Finland, Portugal and the Netherlands. Amongst the supported films up for sale are Nick Hamm’s Killing Bono, Bigas Luna’s DiDi Hollywood [+see also:
