The King’s Speech leads BIFA nominations

Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech leads the nominations list for the 13th annual British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) with eight, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and two Best Supporting Actor nominations.

Gareth EdwardsMonsters, Mark Romanek’s Never Let Me Go and Clio Barnard’s The Arbor all received six nominations, Chris MorrisFour Lions five and four went to Mike Leigh’s Another Year, Nigel Cole’s Made in Dagenham and Rowan Joffe’s Brighton Rock.

BIFA Joint Directors Johanna von Fischer and Tessa Collinson said, “This year’s nominations truly reflect the scope of independent filmmaking in the UK and, regardless of budget, each category showcases the wealth of talent committed to making quality British films.”

The winners will be announced on December 5.
