The goals of TF1 Films

2003 will be a very full and challenging year for TF1 Films et Productions, the film production arm of leading French broadcaster TF1. 2002 saw them lagging behind France 2 Cinéma, some of whose films attracted audiences of over 1 million.
This year, TF1 Films, directed by Laurent Storch, increased the number of its pre-sales acquisitions (co-productions and broadcast rights) by 50 per cent, to 26 titles compared to 18 in 2001. The company also increased its budget by Euros4.8m, passing from Euros38.5m in 2001 to Euros43.3m.
Six features each received substantial (over Euros2m) funding from TF1 Films Productions: Muraya by Jan Kounen (Euros3.8m), Michel Vaillant by Louis-Pascal Couvelaire (Euros2.5m), Fanfan la Tulipe [+see also:

(Euros2.5m) and Taxi (Euros2.5m) both of which were directed by Gérard Krawczyk, Francis Weber’s Les Tourtereaux (Euros2.3m) and Jean-Jacque Annaud’s Deux Frères (Euros2.1m).
Six features produced by Luc Besson’s production company, Europa Corp, were co-produced by TF1 Films.
