"Albinoì"conquers Göteborg

- Due awards for Icelander Dagur Kari's feature debut and Lilja 4-ever wins best film

Noi The Albinoi an Icelandic/Danish/British/German co-production won two major awards, the Nordisk Film Prize (and a cheque for DKR200,000) and the Fipresci, at the 26th Göteborg International Film Festival that ended last saturday.
The directorial feature debut by Iceland’s Dagur Kàri beat some stiff Scandinavian competition from the likes of Josef Fares’ and his comedy, Kopps (Sweden), Fridrik Thór Fridrisson’s Falcons (Iceland) and Nicholas Winding Refn’s thriller, Fear X (Denmark).
Norway’s Gunnar Vikene won the Canal Plus Nordic Script award for Falling Sky, while the DKR50.000 Kodak Nordic Vision Award went to cinematographer Harald Paalgard for Falcons.
Lukas Moodysson’s hit Lilja 4 Ever [+see also:

took home the Göteborg Major Award, this film is also Sweden’s candidate for this year’s best foreign language film Oscar. The Apple Tree by Baker Karim, Alexander Karim, Anja Birgmann and Kristoffer Karlsson Rus won the Audience Award.
Over 116,000 people saw 670 films from all over the world in Göteborg, one of Scandinavia’s most important festivals.
