Tesson to replace Berjon as delegate general in 2012

Having served as delegate general of International Critics’ Week(SIC) since 2004, Jean-Christophe Berjon will step down as expected in 2012. His successor, appointed by the French Union of Film Critics, will be Charles Tesson who has been a member of the Critics’ Week feature film selection committee since last year.

Tesson (56) started working as a journalist at the Cahiers Du Cinéma in 1979 and served as editor-in-chief from 1998-2003. The author of numerous books (including on Luis Buñuel, Abbas Kiarostami, Akira Kurosawa and Satyajit Ray), he has taught Film History and Aesthetics at university since 1982.

He also produced and distributed films between 1985 and 1990, notably Jean-Pierre Limosin’s The Other Night and Philippe Garrel’s Les Ministères de l'Art (“Ministries of Art”).

The 50th International Critics’ Week (SIC) will run from May 12-20 at the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
