Production has begun at Pinewood Studios on Prometheus, the long awaited Alien prequel directed by British icon Ridley Scott. The Twentieth Century Fox, Scott Free Productions and Brandywine Productions film stars Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo [+see also:

Prometheus re-teams Scott with several of his long-time collaborators, including production designer Arthur Max (Robin Hood), Oscar-winning costume designer Janty Yates (Gladiator), Oscar-winning editor Pietro Scalia (Black Hawk Down) and set decorator Sonja Klaus (Kingdom of Heaven).

The film is scheduled for a June 2012 release by Twentieth Century Fox.

Meanwhile, The Iron Lady, a film that tells the story of Margaret Thatcher and stars Oscar-winners Meryl Streep (photo) as Lady Thatcher and Jim Broadbent as Denis Thatcher, has recently completed filming at Pinewood Studios.

The Iron Lady looks at power and the price that is paid for power, and is an intimate portrait of a complex woman. Streep said before filming, “The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!”

The film is a Pathé, Film4, UK Film Council presentation with the participation of Canal+ and CinéCinéma in association with Goldcrest Film Production LLP of a DJ Films Production.
