When We Leave arrives in 27 countries to celebrate Europe Day

, winner of the 2010 LUX Prize, is being shown in the 23 official languages and the 27 Member States of the European Union during the month of May under the auspices of Europe Day 2011.

The LUX Prize strives to break down the language barriers that prevent European films from being distributed across the continent and seeks to take up the challenge of finding new forms of communication with citizens, making European cinema one of the most powerful mirrors of debate amongst the thousands of faces in a pluralistic Europe.

The aim of such an event is to create a public European space – a time and place where European citizens will have an opportunity to reflect upon and discuss an issue of shared interest.

Members of Parliament Stavros Lambridinis, Isabelle Durant and Doris Pack spoke to Cineuropa about this initiative.
