Motovun announces main competition, Bauer nominees

Motovun Film Festival has announced the main competition for the Motovun Propeller Award, nominees for the regional Bauer Award and partner country Ireland, for its 12th edition which runs July 25-29.

The Bauer Award for the best film from the territories of former Yugoslava in theatrical distribution was established last year, when the winner was the Croatian war drama The Blacks [+see also:

After two rounds of voting by film professionals from all seven territories, the three finalists are Nikola Ležaić’s Tilva Ros [+see also:

from Serbia, winner of best film and best actor (Marko Todorović) at last year’s Sarajevo Film Festival; Dalibor Matanić’s Mother of Asphalt [+see also:

, the first Slovenian film ever selected for Venice Days, in 2010.

The jury consists of film directors and actors from the seven countries, and the Bauer Award includes a cash prize of €5,000, plus €10,000 in post-production services from Slovenia’s Teleking.

In the Partner Country sidebar dedicated to Ireland this year, the festival will screen 13 recent films selected by Simon Perry.

The new film by Serbian veteran director Zelimir Zilnik One Woman-One Century will have its world premiere at Motovun.
