Nordmedia publishes report on state of media in Lower Saxony

by

Nordmedia, the film promotion organisation in Lower Saxony and Bremen, has published its study on how the region’s media industry is perceived by its own members. The document is entitled The Media Climate in Lower Saxony.

The analysis, carried out for the third year running by the IJK (Institut für Journalistik und Kommunikationsforschung), the Institute for Journalism and Communication Research, concludes that the economic crisis, at least with regard to the sector, is considered to be over and that the region’s business leaders predict a very promising future for the media sector.

The increased rating for Lower Saxony by industry business leaders, which has increased from 3.2 points out of 5 the previous year (3.0 in 2008) to 3.4 points in 2010, is mainly due to the opportunities for public funding, the political conditions and the economic strength of the federal state.

Another of the study’s main conclusions is the observation that the industry is perfectly aware that the future lies in digital technology, whether it be digital production and distribution, streaming, downloading, WebTV, or web-based social networks.
