The plot centres on Captain Derczyński, who belongs to a military unit stationed in the village. He is married with three children: two sons (aged five and nine) and a 15-year-old daughter. Loved by his nearest and dearest, he is very attached to them and he is also an upholder of traditions: he adores Polish cuisine, takes care of his family’s physical fitness and promotes patriotic values.

But this story, which could slip into light comedy, suddenly turns into a dark psychological thriller. For the captain is completely transformed, drawn deeper and deeper into an obsession.

Produced by Sowa Film Media Productions, Last Floor has a €670,000 budget including €420,000 in backing from the Polish Film Institute. The film is lensed by DoP Tomasz Augustynek, who also collaborated with the director on Recruited Love. Last Floor is slated for release in Polish theatres in the second half of 2012.
