Marian Crisan shooting second feature Iguanas

Marian Crisan is currently shooting his second feature, Iguanas, in Northern Romania. A drama about Victor, a 45-year old rocker who is ready to do anything for his son, Florin, a drug addict, Iguanas started shooting on February 13 and is expected to wrap in the first weeks of March.

The film is produced by Mandragora Movies and co-produced by Slot Machine (France) and Departure Film (Germany) with the help of HBO Romania and the Romanian public television. Last year, Iguanas received a €230,000 grant from the Romanian National Film Centre.

The main part went to Dan Chiorean, from the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre, Crisan choosing other theatre actors from Bucharest, Sibiu, Timisoara and Oradea, such as Alin State, Crina Semciuc, Ofelia Popii, Richard Balint, Daniel Vulcu and Elvira Rimbu (known from Crisan's first feature, Morgen [+see also:

). The film's DoP is Tudor Mircea.

Iguanas is Marian Crisan's third project with Mandragora, after short film Megatron (winner of a Palme d'Or in 2008) and Morgen. With an international premiere at the Locarno film festival in 2010, the film went home with The Jury Grand Prix. It was Romania's proposition for Best Foreign Language Film category at this year's Academy Awards.

In 2011, the film did not win any Gopos, the Romanian film industry awards, although it was nominated in ten categories.
