17/05/2012 - Nominated for another British BAFTA award, Danish pubcaster DR-TV's television series will now be published as a book in Denmark and the UK

There seems no end to the fame bestowed upon The Killing, Danish writer Søren Sveistrup's television series for Danish pubcaster DR-TV that introduced Danish noir to British audiences.

For the second time the thriller has been nominated for a BAFTA award in the international category - winners will be announced at the Arqiva British Academy Television Awards on May 27. Last year, The Killing was among them.

The Duchess of Cornwall recently visited the set of the thriller, which is now in preparation for its third - and last - series, pointing a prop gun at producer Piv Bernth and receiving one of lead actress Sofie Gråbøl's Faroese jumpers.

Detective Inspector Sarah Lund (Gråbøl) has become Sarah Linden in the American remake of the first ten episodes, staged by US cable network AMC, with Mireille Enos investigating the murders.

Earlier this month (May) Danish cinematographer Rasmus Arrildt received the prize for Best Photography of a TV Series from UK's Guild of Television Cameramen for his work on season two.

And now the serial jumps from the screen to the book shelf, when on May 24 British journalist and author David Hewson launches The Killing, a 625-page novel based on the first round of Sarah Lund's inquiries.

Because of the UK success international publisher Pan Macmillan bought the rights for season one and two, and the first result will be presented at Crimefest in Bristol, while Lindhardt & Ringhof will issue the Danish version.

Hewson, who has written 16 novels that have been translated into 20 languages, has been on several research trips to explore the 'Danishness' that is an essential ingredient of the series.
