There is a lot happening these days in Apulia, where shooting is underway for four films in different areas of the region. Starting from the province of Brindisi, which hosts the shooting of Andrea Zaccariello's Ci vediamo domani, starring Enrico Brignano (photo). The Roman comedian plays a man who has been abandoned by his wife and daughter and who, on his quest for the opportunity of a lifetime, comes up with a bizarre initiative: opening up a funeral parlour in a small Apulian village made up of people over 90, all potential clients. But things won't go to plan.

Starring alongside Brignano will be Italo-American actor Burt Young (Rocky, Once Upon a Time in America) and Ricky Tognazzi, Francesca Inaudi and little Giulia Salerno. Based on a story by Paolo Rossi and Andrea Zaccariello, the film is produced by Moviemax Media Group and Smile Production and will be shot in six weeks.

In the province of Bari, shooting is underway on an Italo-Irish co-production, Controra, first feature by Rossella De Venuto, starring Pietro Ragusa, Ireland's Fiona Glascott, Italo-American Federico Castelluccio and Apulia's Marcello Prayer. Written by the director together with Francesco Piccolo, it's the story of a couple living in Dublin: Megan, a successful Irish artist and her husband Leo, an Italian architect who emigrated to Ireland years earlier. On the news of the death of Leo's uncle, a powerful Catholic priest, the two decide to go back to Apulia to take care of the inheritance. Once there, Leo rediscovers a world which he had almost forgotten. Megan, on her part, will be disturbed by mysterious apparitions and events.

Also being shot in Bolzano and Dublin, the film is produced by Maurizio Antonini together with Interlinea Film, in co-production with Ireland's Ripple World Pictures and Italy's Barter SpA, with the contribution and support of the Apulia Film Commission, the BLS Alto Adige Fund, the Irish Film Board and MiBAC's anticipative recognition for cultural interest.

The province of Bari also hosts the shooting of Amiche da morire, a film written and directed by Giorgia Farina and starring Claudia Gerini, Cristiana Capotondi, Sabrina Impacciatore and Vinicio Marchioni. It's the story of three very different women who are hiding a secret. Chased by a gruff police officer, they will be forced to work together to save their own skin. The film is produced by Andrea Leone Films together with Rai Cinema with the contribution of the Apulia Film Commission, and will be distributed by 01 Distribution.

Brindisi, finally, is hosting the two weeks' shooting of Federico Rizzo's Il ragioniere della mafia, based on the homonymous novel by Donald Vergari (a reporter for the well-known TV programme "Striscia la notizia"), with Lorenzo Flaherty, Tony Sperandeo and Ernesto Mahieux. Filming for this feature film - the story of a 30-year-old accountant who gets an offer he can't refuse and which will lead him to managing the profits of a holding company dealing in organised crime - started on May 21 in Basilicata, and after Brindisi it will move to America (New York e Miami) and South America. The film is produced by Elleffe Group.
