Almost a decade after it was founded in London, the Met Film School now has offices in Berlin’s exquisite Havel Studios.

This former holiday resort situated on the banks of the Stoessensee Lake, very popular in the early 20th century with inhabitants of the German capital, was reconverted into film studios after the Second World War, and saved a second time from dereliction 10 years ago by photographer and filmmaker Bernd Böhm. The studios hosted the filming of Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire. Today, renovation works undertaken by Böhm have given the studios very high ceilings with multiple levels and green backgrounds and surrounded by vast areas of land and it plays host to many productions of films, advertisements, video clips and Internet content.

From October 1, the Havel studios will receive pupils from the Berlin branch of the Met Film School, in addition to several professionals that already practice there. Several types of training courses taught through English by experts in all film-related areas (including those linked to new technologies) will be on offer. The courses will emphasise not only knowledge but constant practice (from writing, directing to post-production) through ultra-modern equipment. The programme will offer workshops, part-time training courses, ongoing training and master classes in the programme, as well as a course in “Practical Filmmaking” and an eight-week training course, "From Story to Screen".
