Non-Stop Sales ends, shuts up shop by end of month

- The Swedish international sales company, which was taken over by Turner Broadcasting Systems 2010, will close due to 'under-performance'

Swedish international sales company NonStop Sales, which has been operating since 1998, will close shop by the end of March, it was announced by Turner Broadcasting Systems (a Time-Warner subsidiary), which bought NonStop owner – Sweden’s Millennium Media Group (MMG) - in 2010.

According to director of marketing, communication and digital Lidija Ilic, the decision to dismantle the operation was taken because of the company’s “under-performance”, and not related to the restructuring and cutbacks in Turner Broadcasting Systems, also in London and Stockholm. Three employees in Stockholm will lose their jobs.

“The international market for quality art house product, which was our main niche, has recently become more difficult – several television stations have dropped their slots for these films – so I fully understand Turner’s decision,” said sales director Michael Werner, who joined NonStop Sales in 2010.

The company was part of the Millennium Media Group with NonStop Entertainment, NonStop Television and Prime Text International, founded by Ignas Scheynius (who left his position as vice president and part-general manager of Turner Broadcasting Nordic and Baltics by the end of 2012 and CG Andersson, still MMG chief.

”Obviously the Turner take-over means a Millennium Media Group 2.0 with more muscle,” said Scheynius in 2010. ”Formerly a fast-growing, mid-sized player, it has now far more resources for further development.” – Neither the distribution arm (Entertainment) nor the television side (Star!, Silver HD, TV7, Showtime) are affected by the closure of NonStop Sales, but still by Turner’s announced 30% reduction of positions.
