15/03/2013 - A new studio and post-production complex in the Grand Duchy, Filmland, has opened its doors

Though already a hub for countless European co-productions and the occasional local hit film such as Doudege wénkel, what was missing in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was a studio complex with complete facilities. With the opening of Filmmland, in Kehlen, just northwest of the capital, this has finally been remedied.

The new structure comprises four studios, including two of 1000m² each, and two workshops of 400m² each and a total of 500m² of production offices. Two of the studios are equipped with water tanks.

Seven Luxembourg production companies have set up shop on-site: Bidibul Productions (the current French hit Boule & Bill [+see also:

film profile]); Juliette Films; Ni Vu Ni Connu; Lucil Film (The Runway [+see also:

The Filmland complex is an initiative of Bidibul, Iris, Lucil, Tarantula and off-site production companies Samsa (Möbius [+see also:
trailer
film profile]) and Paul Thiltges Distribution (the upcoming The Congress), whose daughter company Juliette Films is present in Kehlen.

The post-production companies installed on-site are: Espera (image post-production); Lux Digital and Nako FX (visual effects and, for the latter, 3D animation); PTD (effects and DCP) and Philophon (sound post-production).

Two films have already been shooting at Filmland since January, though the entire complex wasn't finished until this week, when it was officially presented to the press. The summer slots at Filmland have also already been booked.
