"Whether it's crass, slapstick, sarcastic, a romantic comedy, a dark comedy, a spoof - you name it, if it's funny, it's eligible," is the guideline of the showcase, programmed by the legendary club in Manhatten (opened in 1904) with a membership of top comedians and entertainers from Frank Sinatra to Billy Crystal, from Whoopi Goldberg to Jerry Seinfeld.

“Of course I am excited to see whether One for Two can pull a little smile from American audiences,” said Heide, who will attend the event “to meet a lot of interesting people and find out what happens on the comedy front in other countries”.

Heide’s fourth feature was panned by the critics, when it opened domestically on January 31 – ”the vulgar successor to the Olsen Gang needs a dry diaper,” wrote a reviewer about the sequel of his All for One, which seated 379,000 Danes in the cinemas, also with Danish comedians Mick Øgendahl, Jonatan Spang and Rasmus Bjerg in the leads as a previously tight-knit trio now dispersed – one is on parole, the others are planning a difficult heist.

Scripted by Mick Øgendahl and Anders Thomas Jensen, and still running after nine weeks, One for Two has now exceeded its predecessor, selling 380,000 tickets for Nordisk Film Biografdistribution.

Released last year, to reach 200,000 admissions, Joof’s Almost Perfect stars Lene Maria Christensen, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Mia Lyhne and Casper Crump in a romantic comedy about a young woman who has chosen to become pregnant by an anonymous sperm donor and now wants to find out whether he is as perfect as she imagines.
