Co-productions, cop comedy and a punk movie

- Picture Tree International kicks off with an international line-up in Cannes

The Berlin-based sales & production outfit Picture Tree International (PTI) that was launched by German sales agent Andreas Rothbauer and the production expert Alec Schulmann at the European Film Market 2013 presents their first co-production projects in Cannes. producer Tero Kaukomaa, as well as the South African comedy Blitz Patrollie. Further projects include the historical drama Young Perez, which is based on the true story of the Jewish-Tunisian boxer Victor Perez during the Second World War as well as an Untitled Punk Movie that is set during the Sex Pistols' legendary 'Anarchy in the UK' tour in 1976.

PTI's first co-production project with strategic partners in Finland and Canada is the thriller Human by Finnish filmmaker Antti-Jussi Annila (photo - Jade Warrior [+see also:

). The story focuses on three scientists who are researching a pack of wolves in northern Canada. When one of the wolves attacks a female scientist, she bites the wolf back in horror-filled vengeance. The partners in this Finnish-Canadian-German co-production are Iron Sky producer Tero Kaukomaa (Blind Spot Pictures), The Timekeeper producers Dean English and Karen Powell (Perfect Circle Productions) from Canada while Picture Tree International acts as German co-producer and international sales agent.

As market premiere in Cannes presented is the South African cop comedy Blitz Patrollie in which two policemen in Johannesburg get accidentally involved in a major drug deal. Currently in post-production isJacques Ouaniche's historical drama Young Perez about the two-time boxing world champion Victor Perez who was deported to Auschwitz and forced to take part in brutal boxing matches for the entertainment of the guards.

Scheduled for filming in the fall is the Untitled Punk Movie by Wayne Holloway (Snake and Mongoose) which is starring the acclaimed British singer Paloma Faith. This road movie tells the story of four young Brits who follow the legendary band The Sex Pistols on their concert tour in 1976.
