- Goalpost Films has pre-sold key territories on Michael Winterbottom's The Trip to Italy, which is set to start filming on May 24
Introduced to world distributors in Cannes by Goalpost Film, Michael Winterbottom’s The Trip to Italy was pre-sold to IFC for the US, Madman for Australia/New Zealand, Non-Stop Entertainment for Scandinavia and Wild Bunch for Benelux.
A follow-up to the UK director’s critically acclaimed BBC series and film The Trip, Winterbottom’s The Trip to Italy is a semi-fictional improvised tour of Italy starring the popular UK comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Filming will start on May 24 on the project produced by Revolution Films, Baby Cow and Arbie Productions. A film version will be made alongside the 6X30 minute TV series.
Tristan Whalley’s small sales company had a smash hit last year in Cannes with Wayne Blair’s The Sapphires that was picked up for several territories by The Weinstein Company. The film’s Australian producer Rosemary Blight is collaborating with Goalpost’s Australian arm on a new project: the historical thriller Six Miles Bottom.
