The 52 year-old filmmaker’s fifth feature film, Blue is the Warmest Colour attains an artistic peak for a director who has already accumulated prizes with his previous films. Winner of the Golden Lion for the Best First Film in Venice in 2000 with Blame it on Voltaire, Abdellatif Kechiche won four César awards in 2005 (Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and best Female Newcomer) with Games of Love and Chance [+see also:

Based on the comic strip of the same namebyJulie Maroh, Blue is the Warmest Colour,masterfully played by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux, was produced by Quat’sous Films and Wild Bunch (which is managing its sales and will also handle its French distribution on October 9th) with a budget of 3.99 M€. The feature film was coproduced by France 2 Cinéma, the Belgian company Scope Pictures and the Spanish company Vertigo Films. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, it was also funded amongst others by Eurimages.
