Haut et Long goes far and wide

The distribution arm of French independent production company, Haut et Court released Danish director Susanne Bier’s Dogme feature Open Hearts [+see also:

onto 40 French screens on 2 April.
Haut et Court will also release Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson’s award-winning Lilja 4-Ever [+see also:

on 16 April onto 35 screens, followed at the beginning of the Summer, by Icelandic co-production Noi the Albino by Dagur Kari, winner of the jury grand prix at the recent Nordic Film Festival of Rouen.
Under the leadership of Laurence Petit, the distribution division of Haut et Court explained their passion for Nordic cinema as more a consequence of gut feeling than any particular marketing strategy. Set up in 1991 by Carole Scotta, Haut et Court has earned itself a well-deserved reputation for revealing new filmmaking talent: they bought the rights to Paul Greengrass’ Bloody Sunday [+see also:

one week before it won the Golden Bear at the 2002 Berlinale.
On the production side, Haut et Court is Laurent Cantet’s company of choice (L’emploi du temps) and the screenplay of their forthcoming feature, Vers le sud, is in preparation. The company also has the following titles in post-production: Qui a tué Bambi by Gilles Marchand (co-writer of Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien) which is scheduled for release on 17 September and Tiresia by Bertrand Bonello (Le pornographe) and Emily Young’s Helen of Peckham, co-produced with the UK’s Wild Horses.
