. “It is the source of great joy to be hosting the premiere of Ettore Scola’s film, with a filmmaker that is very popular here and who has always been praised by French critics,” the director of the festival Jean A. Gili said.

The film is a portrait of Federico Fellini, told by Scola to mark the twenty years of the death of the great Rimini director. Scola declared that “this is not a film that looks like what I have done before because it is neither a film nor a documentary. I did not want to remember Fellini twenty years after his death with the usual repertoire. Even those who haven’t seen his films know him. They live in the world he created to make everything easier to live in, more beautiful.”

As it does every year, the festival’s line-up includes a rich selection of debut and second films and documentaries in competition. For this 31st edition, among the forty films to be screened in the beautiful Alto Adige setting, are three films that have yet to be seen in Italy: Amoreodio by Cristian ScardignoAcqua fuori dal ring [+see also:

The programme includes, among others, works by Alessandro Gassman, Giovanni Columbu, Elisa Fuksas, Bruno Oliviero, Andrea Segre alongside veterans Silvio Soldini and Daniele Vicari.

. The Marche region is at the centre of this year’s edition with a number of films shot on location (from Ossessione by Luchino Visconti to La stanza del figlio by Nanni Moretti) and a homage to the great screenwriter and three-time Oscar-winner, Dante Ferretti born in Macerata.
