Une histoire de fou by Robert Guédiguian for the Ile-de-France region

Next May, Robert Guédiguian (photo) will begin the filming of his 19th feature, Une histoire de fou, which stands out amongst the nine feature film projects selected by the 3rd session 2013 of the Funds for the backing of the cinematographic and audiovisual technical industries of the Ile-de-France region.

Robert Guédiguian continues to make films at a metronomic rhythm since he is currently working on the post-production of Au fil d'Ariane (read the article). For Une histoire de fou, he co-wrote the screenplay with Gilles Taurand, who took part for the 3rd time in the scripting of one of the director’s films after The Last Mitterand (in competition in Berlin in 2005) and L'armée du crime [+see also:

(out of competition in Cannes in 2009). The story focuses on Aram, a young man from Marseilles of Armenian origin who blows up the car of the Turkish Ambassador in Paris. A young cyclist who was nearby is badly hurt. As he tries to understand what happened, Aram’s mother enters his hospital room and asks for forgiveness. As for Aram, he breaks away from his comrades in Beirut until the day he decides to meet his victim to make him his spokesman... Produced by Agat Films & Cie, Une histoire de fou should be funded by the Ile-de-France region (where 35 of the 50 days of filming will take place) for 374,000 euros and benefit from a total budget of 5.59 M€.

Amongst the other features backed by the region Bande de filles by Céline Sciamma (read the article - production Lilies Films – 374,000 euros) stands out as well as, Etats de femmes by Katia Lewkowicz (article - Rectangle – 408,000 euros), Diplomatie by Volker Schlöndorff (news - Film Oblige – 306,000 euros), La morale de l'histoire by Marie-Castille Mention Schaar (Loma Nasha Films – 400,000 euros) and Les yeux jaunes des crocodiles by Cécile Telerman (starring Emmanuelle Béart - production Les Films Manuel Munz - 476,000 euros).
