The Seville Festival, which is turning ten, is to present 182 films with 363 screenings

On Tuesday, October 30, the programme of the tenth edition of the Seville European Film Festival was presented. The festival will take place on November 8-16, during which time 182 films will be presented with 363 screenings. The edition was described as “ambitious” and with a “restricted budget” according to its director, José Luis Cienfuegos. The festival’s guest of honour will be Portuguese cinema.

), Portuguese actor Carloto Cotta, Slovak director Mira Fornay, Greek Liza Linardau and Spanish screenwriter and director Mar Coll (who just a short while ago launched her second feature length film, Todos queremos lo mejor para ella).

Beyond this section, the Seville event will present the usual "Las nuevas olas" sections, divided into fiction and documentary, dedicated to European film newcomers. "Resistencia" will present independent Spanish producers resisting the crisis; "Europa Junior" will be geared at young people’s cinema; "Selezione EFA" will feature the best candidates from the European Film Academy (EFA), and "Eurimages" will encompass pieces of work supported by the organisation, as well as various special cycles dedicated to Andalusian and Portugues cinema.

Retrospectives will be dedicated to Swedish Gunvor Nelson, French Leos Carax, Seville-native María Cañas as well as to contemporary animation cinema from Eastern Europe.
