“Imperfect mothers” make their first steps on the big screen
- The successful mini-series written and directed by Ivan Cotroneo has been made into a film to be screened as a special even on December 17 in 95 movie theatres
From the internet to the big screen, passing through television and millions of television spectators. Una mamma imperfetta, the cult mini-series written and directed by Ivan Cotroneo – 50 instalments lasting eight minutes initially on the Corriere della Sera website, and then played on Rai2, with around 1.2 million spectators for each episode – has now transformed into a 95-minute film, to be screened in cinemas as a special Christmas event.
The tragicomic adventures lived by Chiara (Lucia Mascino), Marta (Alessia Barela), Irene (Anna Ferzetti) and Claudia (Vanessa Compagnucci), and their thousands of tricks to keep their houses, families, work and everyday lives going is described in Il Natale della mamma imperfetta, which shows those frenetic days as the holiday season approaches, including un-findable gifts, the hunt for the most original decorations, arrival of impossible in-laws and the organisation of exhausting suppers. Add to this un-collaborative husbands (Fausto Maria Sciarappa, Biagio Forestieri, Sergio Albelli, Luciano Scarpa) and an on going head-to-head with detested perfect parents, who never seem phased by any event, and you will find a story, which is a great representative of Christmas, especially for matriarchs.
Produced by Indigo Film and 21 in coproduction with Rai Fiction, Il Natale della mamma imperfetta will be screened in 95 movie theatres in Italy on December 17 (distributed by QMI) and will then be played on television channel Rai2 on December 27.
