Trieste, WEMW Development Award to Endless Garden

Endless Garden, produced by Martichka Bozhilova for Agitrop, is the winner of the fourth edition of When East Meets West.

Endless Garden is the story of Emma who retreats from the outside world into her flower shop to creating a model garden. The film is the cinematic debut by theater director Galin Stoev.

Endless Garden, presented by Sofia-based production company Agitrop, was honored with the WEMW Development Award as the best of the 22 projects in competition by an international jury of experts consisting of Nikolaj Nikitin of Sofa – School of Film Agents, Matthieu Darras of the Torino Film Lab and Kristina Trapp, chief executive EAVE.

A special mention of the jury goes to Never Give Up by Matej Minac (W.I.P.), Czech Republic.

A grant for the participation in the next edition of the EAVE EUROPEAN PRODUCERS WORKSHOP goes to Macedonian director Gjorce Stavreski and producer Emilija Cockova  (Fragment Film) for their project Krani.

The FILMMORE Emerging Talent Award, a new prize of 5.000 Euro made available by Filmmore, one of the most prominent post-production studios in the Benelux countries, goes to the Belgian project Coureur produced by Koen Mortier and Eurydice Gysel (Czar TV) and directed by Kenneth Mercken.

When East Meets West is organized by the Fondo per l’Audiovisivo del Friuli Venezia Giulia together with Trieste Film Festival, in collaboration with EAVE, Antenna MEDIA Torino, Maia workshops, Eurimages and with the support of the MEDIA Programme, Direzione Generale per il Cinema – MiBACT (Italian Cultural Ministry), CEI (Central European Initiative), Regione Autonoma del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

The special focus on the Benelux in 2014 lies on the partnership with MEDIA Desk Belgie, MEDIA Desk Belgique-Communauté francaise, MEDIA Desk Luxembourg, MEDIA Desk Nederland, Luxembourg Film Fund, Flanders Audiovisual Fund, Wallimage, Centre du Cinéma et de l'Audiovisuel, Netherlands Film Fund and Film Producers Netherlands.
