Loyal to its openness towards world cinema, French sales company Urban Distribution International (UDI) will head for the 64th Berlinale (February 6-16, 2014) with two features coproduced with South American and Asia. Frédéric Corvez’s team will notably start the sales of Natural Sciences [+see also:

(Ciencias Naturales) by Argentinean director Matías Lucchesi, which will be presented in the Generation Kplus section. Laureate of the Best First Film Award at Ventana Sur in December, the film, which tells the story of the mishaps of a twelve-year-old girl looking for her father, was coproduced on the French side by Metaluna Productions.

Another one of UDI’s assets in Berlin will be Journey to the West [+see also:

(Xi You). Selected for the Panorama, the film by Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-liang features Lee Kang Sheng and Denis Lavant in the cast and follows a Buddhist monk in the streets of Marseille. Neon Productions, House on Fire and Resurgence Groupe are amongst the coproducers.

At the European Film Market, Urban Distribution International will pre-sell Insecure by French director Marianne Tardieu (read the article), a first feature in post-production played by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Reda Kateb. It is also worth mentioning the market screenings of Like the Wind (Come il vento) by Italian director Marco Simon Puccioni (unveiled out of competition in Rome) and Las horas Muertas by Aaron Fernandez (coproduced by Mexico, France and Spain – which premiered in San Sebastian), as well as the Canadian film Felix et Meira by Maxime Giroux, still in production.
