, which was released a year ago, the latest film by Dutch director Johan Nijenhuis, Tuscan Wedding [+see also:

, is again proving to be a big hit.

It is still occupying the top spot in the box-office charts three weeks since its release, having amassed a total of almost €2.8 million, a very impressive figure for any film (none of the US releases currently in the charts managed a similar performance). Nonetheless, this still comes as something of a disappointment when compared to Loving Ibiza, whose takings totalled €3.2 million after three weeks last year.

The film, produced by Nijenhuis & Co and Farmhouse, and distributed by A-Film, tells the story of a Dutch woman who runs a wedding venue in picturesque Tuscany, Italy.

Also still doing great business is the female-led Soof [+see also:

by Antoinette Beumer,starring Lies Visschedijk as the titular protagonist. The film’s total box-office takings stand at an impressive €5.88 million after ten weeks on release, and it is currently in last place in the box-office top ten. The movie’s release is handled by Independent Films.

Debuting last week was Kankerlijers [+see also:

by director Lodewijk Crijns, a remake of the 2003 Spanish hit The 4th Floor, telling the story of a group of children in a cancer ward. It opened in only 14th place, with a disappointing €1,240 screen average over 45 screens (for comparison: Tuscan Wedding’s average topped €4,600 over 122 screens). Kankerlijkers was released by eOne.

Reaching the end of its theatrical cycle is the children’s sequel Class of Fun [+see also:

, which has made €3.86 million after ten weeks on release.

In terms of European films, of note is the Dutch success of Italian Oscar nominee The Great Beauty [+see also:
