08/04/2014 - The Gambler and Redirected ride high in the national awards for Lithuanian cinema

Dedicated to awarding the best of Lithuanian cinema, the Silver Cranes 2014 will take place on 2 May at the Forum Palace in Vilnius. Following the 2014 nominations, The Gambler [+see also:

The former, a stylish thriller directed by Ignas Jonynas, has proved to be a massively popular success on the festival circuit (ranging from the likes of Marrakech to San Sebastian) and has been part of something of a renaissance for Lithuanian cinema that began in 2012 with Vanishing Waves [+see also:

film profile]. Meanwhile, Redirected is an English-language gangster film directed by Emilis Velyvis and starring Vinnie Jones, which has smashed all box-office records in Lithuania (grossing more than €1 million since its release in January 2014).
