The Cinema City International Film Festival, which took place in Novi Sad, Serbia, from 21-28 June, has ended with the triumph of Serbian filmmaker Mina Djukic’s The Disobedient [+see also:

. The film, already presented at Sundance and Rotterdam at the beginning of the year, took home the IBIS statuettes for Best Film, Director and Actress (Hana Selimović). The jury underlined “its quirky cast of characters, its lush cinematography and its ability to deliver a unique cinematic experience”.

The awards list was completed by the Best Actor prize for Muhamed Dupovac, for his role in Slobodan Skerlić’s So Hot Was the Cannon, and two special mentions for Dragan Nikolic’s The Undertaker and Milan Todorović’s Nymph. The jury of the seventh edition of the festival comprised Wide Management’s Loïc Magneron, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival programmer Peter Stumbur and producer Raymond Phathanavirangoon.

Meanwhile, the Cineuropa Prize went to Yvonne Kerékgyártó’s Free Entry (One Day of Betty) [+see also:

, part of the Fresh Danube Films section, which was dedicated to first feature films from filmmakers from the region around the European river. 

The festival, which also featured panels and round-tables dedicated to students and industry professionals (read more here), came to a close after having hosted an impressive number of visitors, guests and films.
