Night Will Fall at the BFI
- André Singer’s documentary about the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps will be released on 19 September
The British Film Institute (BFI) has acquired Night Will Fall, by André Singer (executive producer on The Act of Killing [+see also:

film profile]), a documentary about the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and the efforts made by army and newsreel cameramen to document it. The film will be released in circuit and independent cinemas across the UK on 19 September.
Following a work-in-progress screening at this year’s Berlin Film Festival, the film had its UK premiere at Sheffield Doc/Fest and won a honourable mention there.
The BFI acquired the film from Spring Films and Angel TV. Cinephil is handling international sales. The BFI supported the film during production through its Film Fund.
Jane Giles, head of content development for the BFI, said, “Night Will Fall is a must-see film that combines a fascinating story of filmmaking and archives with heart-breaking testimonies to the horrors of the camps. We’re very proud to be bringing it to audiences across the UK this autumn.”
Sally Angel, producer and managing director of Angel TV, said, “It has been an enormous privilege to have been able to tell the story of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and to hear first hand from survivors, liberators and others who were involved. We hope that Night Will Fall will bring their experiences to a new generation.”
