22/07/2014 - Felix Herngren will direct a new dramedy for TV4 Sweden, where he created three years of success for The Sunny Side

film profile] became an instant local success, reaching one million admissions within a month, will direct and produce The Torpedoes, TV4 Sweden’s new dramedy, which will premier this autumn. 

“It is the first drama-comedy I do, so I'm very excited to dig into arms, corpses and dangerous situations,” said Herngren, who also created and played the lead in TV4’s The Sunny Side, which aired 40 episodes between 2010 and 2013 to an average two million viewers. “The challenge will be to try to find the right balance between humour and seriousness.”

“We are very pleased to present a new series from Herngren and his creative bunch at FLX Productions, set in a different world to The Sunny Side and with Herngren behind the camera,” added TV4 manager Fredrik Arefalk.

Co-directed by Jakob Ström, The Torpedoes was written by Per Gavatin, Niclas Carlsson and Jesper Harrie about Sonny, who has just been released from the Kumla high-security prison after serving six years for a bank robbery – now he wants to start a new life with his girlfriend, Camilla, his contact person with whom he has had a secret relationship behind bars. 

They buy their dream house together, but facing unexpected renovation work – and realising it is not easy for a former bank robber to get a job – he returns to his former employer, Csava, the gangster boss. Just for a short time, and after all, Camilla doesn’t have to know…
