Producers pitch to equity investors at Closing The Gap

The 5th edition of peacefulfish’s Closing The Gap: Equity Investment For 360° Content program culminated in a pitching session hosted by the Investitionsbank (IBB) in Berlin. During the session, 17 international producers pitched their projects to a panel of 5 European investors including a UK/German business angel fund, a Swedish venture capital financier, a British post-production equity provider and gap equity fund managers from the UK and Germany.

Launched in 2010, Closing The Gap has worked with over 100 producers from Central, Eastern, and Western Europe, the United States, Canada and beyond representing 83 international projects with cross-border distribution potential. During this time, the program has collaborated with co-financing and co-hosting partners including the MEDIA Programme of the European Commission, the Apulia Film Commission, the Mallorca Film Commission, the Western Norway Film Commission, and the Investitionsbank Berlin. Of the projects that have taken part in Closing The Gap to date, more than 25% have received investment or commitments of investment related to their participation. 

Projects selected for the 5th edition of the program included Diplodocus and Mice on Strike (two animated features from Poland); Spacers (a 3D & 4D project from the UK); Journey to Rome (a Czech/Polish co-production); two documentaries with innovative transmedia elements — Disco segreta (Italy) and Notes on Blindness (UK); a football comedy from Spain (God’s Legs); an adaptation of a sci-fi novel from the U.S. (Kindred); French love story The Great Wall; the first in a proposed trilogy of vampire films from The Netherlands (Van Helsing - Tyranny of Blood); intimate relationship drama Departure (UK/France); black comedy The Hermit (India/Switzerland); British thriller Borderline; Scottish road movie Moon Dogs; immigration dramedy Honeymoon (Italy); supernatural horror/thriller The Girl In The Corn (UK); and U.S. comedy The Misconception written by the creator of the hit TV series Dexter.
